I always had an interest in mental health issues whilst working as a State Registered Nurse in the NHS for 9 years.
I then qualified as a Health Visitor taking an interest in mother’s mental health issues for nearly 20 years.
Whilst still working as a Health Visitor I studied and qualified as an Integrative Counsellor gaining a Diploma in Integrative Counselling in 2002. To gain and maintain my skills I worked part time as a volunteer counsellor at Mind in Croydon (a well respected mental health charity) for nearly 5 years.
I gave up being employed as a Health Visitor to study for my Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies (CBT) which I obtained in 2010. Throughout the training, and subsequently, I have been employed in either the NHS or a mental health charity IAPT services. This stands for Improving Access to Psychological Therapies.
I regularly update and refresh my knowledge and skills in Psychological Therapies every year as required by the BABCP to maintain my Full Accreditation.
